Hi, I’m Jenny!
I’ve always loved sharing creativity, from cooking and knitting to sewing and felting, and I’m passionate about helping others find joy and relaxation through craft. From my tranquil creative space in Shropshire, set in the historic grounds of Shrewsbury’s ancient spa, I design and make mohair bears, memory bears, bags and more. Surrounded by ever-changing woodland, wildlife, and the soothing sounds of the Rea Brook, my work is inspired by nature and a love of mindful making.
Tucked away on the banks of the Rea Brook, Spa Cottage offers a unique glimpse into Shrewsbury’s rich and fascinating past. In the 19th century, Sutton Spa was a place of hope and healing, where visitors came to enjoy the health-giving properties of its mineral waters.
Families gathered here, doctors praised the spring’s benefits; using it in the local hospital for it’s healing powers, and the community flourished around it’s fresh, natural source.
Spa Cottage was built around 1810 as a bathhouse for visitors seeking the healing waters of the spa well. In 2005, Jenny & Dave purchased the cottage, then a ruin, drawn by it’s calming and spiritual aura - a feeling that still remains today. They lovingly rebuilt it, honouring both its historical significance, and the unique spirit of the site.
Although it is not advisable to drink the water today, it can be used for bathing to ease aches and pains and help skin conditions. The water is soft, with high values of sodium, magnesium, iron, potassium and lots of other minerals. It flows slowly with a strong sulphur scent, forming a reddish-brown residue on the stone, that does not colour the skin. Experience for yourself this hidden gem, which continues to inspire...
Join me in my creative space, set within the Rea Valley Conservation Area on the grounds of Shrewsbury’s ancient spa healing well — a site with history stretching back thousands of years.
This tranquil setting provides a calm and relaxing atmosphere, making it the perfect place to escape for a few hours and reconnect with your creative side.
Inspiration for the workshops often comes from the surrounding wildlife — foxes, squirrels, field mice, rabbits, and a variety of beautiful birds — as well as the changing seasons, each bringing its own character and influence.
Through guided tuition, you’ll learn the techniques of needle felting, gradually shaping natural wool into beautiful creations. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to build on existing skills, the workshops are designed to be enjoyable, mindful, and inspiring.
